The Forgotten Past (Takeshi Yamamoto X You Fanfiction)

Yamamoto-kun isn’t anything like this in the past. You can’t even believe how much change he’d gone through! But the thing is, he don’t want to share his abominable past to anyone – not to Tsuna, Gokudera or even Reborn. His friends are way too oblivious of his past. In fact, no one has the right to say he’s an idiot! Well, to tell you the truth, he once lived in a mansion far away from Japan. He CASUALLY wore elegant and expensive-looking clothes that simply make him more ravishing than EVER. Their “butlers” and “maids” address him appropriately, calling him, “YOUNG MASTER”. He came from a wealthy family indeed. Almost everyone from our neighbourhood adores his family as if they were gods or something. Everyday of his life was just like everybody’s GREATEST DREAM coming TRUE! But what they don’t know is he would always play at their garden, ALONE. Sometimes, I would visit him with my FORCEFUL PARENTS, Yes, the idea of visiting him often was a total bad idea… well, that was what I THOUGHT. I mean, why do I have to visit someone like him? But as time passes, I realized how stupid I am for not realizing that Yamamoto-kun is suffering from SEVERE LONELINESS. I remembered one time, he was even talking to a bird, saying, “The only one that I can talk to is you, little birdie…” But eventually, the bird flew away, leaving him quite depressed. “Even the birds don’t want to talk to me, eh? Fine then, at least I have these flowers.” He said, smiling. Yes, despite his loneliness, he would always leave a smile on his face… and that is why I wanted to help him so badly, but I didn’t know where to start! Our first impressions aren’t so good and we barely know each other… so, what to do, what to do!? All I can only do is BLAME their FAMILY BUSINESS. Because of it, his parents were always busy. They would always arrive late at night while he’s sleeping and go out for work while he’s STILL sleeping! How LAME is that!? He would wake up, hoping to see his parents’ faces first thing in the morning, but sigh as he just couldn’t. Just being with his parents for one whole day will make him so happy; he could even DIE with NO REGRETS! But his wish will always be far from reality. He knew that if his parents show more attention to him, their whole family business will go bankrupt. And what’s more? Everyone would always think that he’s perfect. I just wish those unsophisticated people could know what he was experiencing. But that’s so foolish of me to think it’s even possible! Yamamoto-kun’s kind demeanor always led people to think he has no worries or burdens. You just can’t change the fact of him being nice and stuff.

Well, getting back to the case, I had never got the opportunity to help him. Yep, NEVER! But one unexpected night, Yamamoto’s parents haven’t arrived yet, as usual. So there he was, sleeping comfortably in his large room when surprisingly, the maids and butlers woke him up. He noticed that they were about to shed tears and he became curious of the situation he was in. One maid quickly opened the television, leaving him more and more curious. He just didn’t know that what was about to be revealed was going to be the greatest surprise in his life, EVER! A butler approached him, saying, “Young master, you should see this.” They listened carefully to what the reporter was saying. The room was indeed quiet, only noise from the television could be heard. “It is late, but I am standing here in front of this burning building. You might know this building since it’s quite famous and successful, plus, it is being managed by the YAMAMOTOs. The fire brigade arrived just now and currently, we don’t know what is going on inside this building. We don’t know how many lives were lost and at the same time, how many people survived. It is hard to predict if someone still survives since this building is completely ablaze.”

Hearing this from the reporter, Yamamoto knelt down on his knees, tearing up. The maids and butlers approached him, telling that it would be fine. The room was completely filled with the feeling of melancholy. Minutes later, the reporter said something that made everyone in the room widen their eyes.

“Oh! Oh! Look! Someone just came out from the burning building!” the reporter said, approaching the person covered with smoke and tattered clothes.

As he approached the person, he said, “Oh! His face seems familiar! You’re Mr. Yamamoto! Are you alright?” Yamamoto’s father gave the reporter NO RESPONSE. He was only quiet, looking at the burning building. “Are you alright, sir?” But then again, NO RESPONSE. “Get him to the ambulance quickly! I don’t know if he’s suffering from trauma or what… but it seems serious! QUICK!” The doctors and the nurses confronted him, saying, “We need to go the ambulance, sir.” As they were about to go, Yamamoto’s father finally spoken, “MY WIFE! She’s pregnant! Please save my wife! NO! Please save EVERYONE! I don’t know what to tell my son if my wife dies! Please save everyone!” He was obliviously crying – eyes turning red, heart beat getting faster, and the pressure was so hard to handle.

But what’s surprising is Yamamoto’s mother is pregnant and he didn’t even know anything about it! They were watching carefully, hoping to see his mother, alive. As time passes, more and more people were being saved, but still, no sign of his mother.

After some minutes of pressure, the fire went out and the firemen quickly went inside the burned building to see if someone still lives. A couple of persons survived... and finally, he saw his mother came out – on a stretcher, DEAD –

The feeling of sadness and grief all over his body was too much for him to handle. Experiencing so much in such young age, how unfortunate of him. A maid quickly bought a glass of water and another maid prepared his suit. “Young master, do you like to visit your father?” his personal butler asked. “Ye-yes ple-please....” he said in reply.

A moment later, someone was knocking in the main door, shouting, “Let me come in!” repeatedly. It was without a doubt, a female voice. It was me. A butler opened the door and I quickly ran and barged to his room.
“Lady Kiyomizu!” the maids and butlers said in a shocking manner.

I noticed Yamamoto-kun dressing up and I knew exactly what he’ll do.

“Let me come with you!” I said, pleading.
“Well, uhm, i-is it really o-ok to c-come with m-me?”
“Of course, you don’t need to worry about me, worry about your father.”

The atmosphere was so intense. I only see this kind of scenarios only in dramas! It felt like we were filming! But I guess there’s a big difference in dramas and real life scenarios, right? It isn’t the time to be excited.

And not long, off we go. While we were waiting to reach our destination, the limo was completely quiet. I guess he still needs some time to think by himself. But surely, I really want to comfort him, but as usual, I don’t know what to do. So I used the time in the limo JUST THINKING. Finally, we arrived at the hospital with haggard faces.

“Where’s my father!?” he asked, almost shouting.
“Are you Mr. Yamamoto’s son?” a doctor finally asked him.
“Yes! Please tell me where he is! Is he fine!?”
“Maa....maaa.....Before I tell you anything, calm yourself.” The doctor advised him.

I was there – feeling invisible. The only things that I can do are stand and listen to their conversation. I’m just a worthless piece of trash. Others may look up on me but somewhere inside me, I felt bad. I felt that I only betrayed the people who believe in me. The image they portrayed and imagined about me is just so opposite to the way I’m really am. I don’t know how to react about things. I saw Yamamoto-kun shivering in fear. What can a 7 year old girl like me can do? I thought and thought and finally, an answer came to me. If I were Yamamoto-kun, what do I want others to tell me? And I know just the right answer – give him encouragements. But wait! Why would I tell him that it would be fine when it is obviously not? Geez, at least try, I guess.

So there we are – walking towards the room where his dad is being examined. I can hear the doctor saying, “Your dad is still unconscious but it seems that his heart is beating normal, the flow of his blood is currently fine, his wounds aren’t that serious and we haven’t detected any infection at all. He’s fine. After seeing the burned building at the television, your dad is one lucky man.”

I’m really happy to hear that but at my point of view, I have to disagree with the doctor’s last sentence. He shouldn’t have used the term “lucky”. In real life, there’s no such thing as luck. Even if it has, what about his mother? Is she unlucky? Yamamoto-kun felt worse after hearing it. So I gathered all my courage and patted him at the back, saying, “Don’t worry, Yamamoto-kun. You heard the doctor. Your father will be fine. Trust me.”

I admit that he looked so surprised after hearing it FROM ME, a girl who haven’t spoken much encouragements to him before. He smiled a bit and hugged me, crying, “Thank you, Angel-chan. I feel better now.” The hue on my face got redder and redder and I even sweat more – although I am aware it wasn’t because of the pressure.

Finally, we arrived at the room, knowing that it’ll be fine. His father seems really good. He didn’t even need an oxygen mask since he’s breathing normally. And as the doctor said, his wounds aren’t that serious or shallow. I looked at my watch: it was 1:59 am. We stayed there all night, hoping that his father will gain consciousness by tomorrow morning.

And as I open my eyes, Yamamoto-kun was nowhere to be found. I started to worry – hesitating to go look for him, because if I do, no one will look after his father. And by the time I decide to go look for him, the door opened. It was Yamamoto-kun – holding 2 cups of instant noodles.

“Sorry, Angel-chan, but this is the only food available at the canteen.” He said, apologetically.
“It’s fine, thank you. But you really got me worried.” I said in reply.

While we were about to finish our noodles, we heard a voice, softly saying, “Ta-takeshi.”

Yamamoto-kun immediately stood up and approached his father.

“Father, I’m so glad you woke up! How are you? The doctor said you’ll be fine but don’t move around so much. You still have lots of wounds all over your body.”

Yamamoto-kun smiled and his father did the same.

“Ta-takeshi, where’s your mother? Is she alright?”

Yamamoto-kun stayed silent – didn’t want to let his dad know about his mother since he just gained consciousness and he might get traumatized.

The smile on his dad’s face wavered and he closed his eyes as if telling Yamamoto-kun that he understood.

“I see...” his father said.

Once again, the feeling of melancholy filled the whole room.

“Father... there’s one thing I don’t quite understand...”
“What is it, son?”
“Mother.... is pregnant?”
“Yes, we realized that you felt lonely and we decided to give you siblings.”
“Siblings? Why is it with –s?” Yamamoto asked.
“It was supposed to be twins – a boy and a girl. We have always been imagining the 3 of you playing.”

Yamamoto-kun turned his feelings into tears. Just seeing him like that, I was also depressed.

After a week of staying in the hospital, the doctor advised us to let him stay at home – bed rest.

The maids and butlers welcomed him, prepared his favorite food and took care of him as much as we did. Yamamoto-kun and I would always take turns looking after his father while the maids and butlers were busy with the household chores. One time, I remember Yamamoto-kun asked me, “Angel-chan, can you imagine me cooking? A thought came to me and it seems that I need to cook since my mother is now gone, somebody must take charge here, for now, while my father is still getting better.”

I laughed a bit but realized that he has a point, “I guess you’re right.” I answered.

Well, a lot had happened in 2 months – first of all, his mother’s funeral. Second, Yamamoto-kun learned to cook. Third, his dad got better. Fourth, their family business came to an end and lastly, the most depressing one, they’re about to move in to another country – JAPAN.

Today’s their last day here and I’m really against about this idea. But if they don’t move out, they’re not going to make money for a living and eventually, they’ll get poorer and poorer since they don’t have any business anymore. My parents offered his father a job but they refused it.

“Thank you... but, we want to start our own business. We’re going to build a small sushi shop in Japan. Takeshi can somehow adjust to the new environment and he can help me in the shop so... we’ll be fine.”

So, this is really the last day for us to see each other. I move a few meters away since I don’t know if I can let him go if I get near him. But I can’t control it... They were saying farewells and they were about to go... I can’t take it anymore! I shouted, “Yamamoto-kun!” I ran and hugged him, crying.

“Don’t cry, Angel-chan, we’ll see each other again. You can visit me whenever you want and I’ll visit you here in the future.”

I let go of him, smiling a bit.
“Promise?”
“Promise.” he said.
“Okay... well then... so long.”
“Good bye and... thank you for everything.”

They were now gone... I really can’t stop them... I just hope he’ll never forget his promise.

This is the story of Yamamoto Takeshi – a little boy who carries the burdens of his past.

"Minna! This is just pure fanfiction! This didn't really happened!"
